MAYORS AND SUPERVISORS ENDORSE MCNERNEY

Dublin, CA – Today, sixteen local Mayors and Supervisors offered their strong endorsement of Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-11), citing his independence, accessibility, accomplishments for veterans and attention to local issues.

With the help of local elected officials and veterans groups, Congressman McNerney last year secured a new VA medical facility and nursing home for our area. He also wrote a new law to improve care for service members returning home from combat with traumatic brain injuries. Congressman McNerney has held over 60 “Congress At Your Corner” town hall meetings and travels home every weekend to attend community events and hear directly from the people he represents.

This announcement builds on previous high profile endorsements from Republican elected officials and San Joaquin County Supervisors Steve Bestolarides and Larry Ruhstaller, Mayor Mike Doyle of Danville, Councilmember Steve Abercrombie of Tracy and former Mayor and Councilmember Jack Snyder of Manteca.

He understands the significance of investments in regional projects that will reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality and mobility for people and goods, as well as generate jobs. Through his efforts, Rep. McNerney has proven time and again that he is an effective representative for this area.”

“Jerry McNerney is an effective leader for San Joaquin County,” said San Joaquin County Supervisor Carlos Villapudua. “He helped secure a new veterans’ medical facility that will create 900 jobs, understands and fights for our local issues, and is a constant presence at community events. Congressman Jerry McNerney delivers for San Joaquin County.”

“As a former small businessman and renewable energy engineer, Congressman Jerry McNerney understands what it takes to help communities like Dublin and the Tri-Valley flourish,” said Dublin Mayor Tim Sbranti. “He passed tax credits to help small businesses expand, stood up to help end outsourcing of good American jobs, and always makes local issues a top priority. Our area is well-represented by Jerry McNerney.”

“I am offering my support to Congressman McNerney because of his accessibility to the residents of Morgan Hill and his commitment to standing up for the issues that are important to us,” said Morgan Hill Mayor Steve Tate. “Through multiple ‘Congress At Your Corner’ town hall meetings in our area, Congressman McNerney listens and responds to the people he represents. He also devotes significant attention to addressing the challenges this area faces from Llagas Creek flooding and has secured federal funding for the project.”
