Thank You Veterans
Monday, May 25th, is Memorial Day, a time to remember the men and women of honor who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. I hope you’ll join with me in observing this solemn holiday and giving thanks for the freedom we enjoy.
You can join millions of your fellow Americans by observing the “National Moment of Remembrance,” a minute of silence Monday at 3 p.m. local time. As Moment of Remembrance founder Carmella LaSpada says, this is “a way we can all help put the ‘memorial’ back in Memorial Day.”

$250M facility will create 900 jobs, serve thousands of veterans
STOCKTON - A long sought-after medical facility to provide expanded services closer to home for the growing population of veterans living in the Valley will be built in San Joaquin County.
The $250 million facility - announced Thursday by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs - will include a 120-bed nursing home and a regional outpatient clinic offering medical services that have been unavailable to local veterans unless they traveled to Livermore or Palo Alto.
Elected officials and veterans have for years pushed to place the new facility in the county. They agreed Thursday that the decision supports what they had been saying all along - San Joaquin County makes the most sense.
"It's great news," said Tino Adame, commander of Karl Ross American Legion Post 16. "It's long overdue."
