Bill to disclose outsourcing introduced
The bill would amend the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 to require firms with annual revenues of $1 billion or more to disclose the number of employees working domestically compared to those hired overseas, according to the office of Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton, one of the bill's sponsors.

White House never recognizes the Valley’s pain
Our current Congressional representatives have applied the pressure. A number stepped up the pressure on Obama after his speech, asking him to act "immediately and aggressively" on the foreclosure crisis.
"Every week when I go home, I hear from people in my district who are struggling with an underwater loan or being foreclosed upon," said Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton, in a statement. "To get our economy moving, we must have a real action plan to end the housing logjam and keep people in their homes.

Get moving, lawmakers urge Obama
"Every week when I go home, I hear from people in my district who are struggling with an underwater loan or being foreclosed upon," McNerney said.
He urged:
» A requirement that homeowners have one point of contact at their lending institution.
» Creation of a "real" plan for reducing the principal owed on underwater homes.
» Speeding up the short-sale process, so that homeowners get a yes-or-no answer in a reasonable time frame.

Area politicians weigh in on Obama’s address
Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton, commended the president for his points regarding growing the nation's shrinking middle class.
"(Obama) showed he is aware of the everyday struggles of real people and that he is committed to building the middle class and preserving the American dream for all people," McNerney said in a news release.
