Veterans of Foreign Wars PAC endorses McNerney

On October 31, Jerry McNerney's campaign announced a major endorsement from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Political Action Committee.

The VFW-PAC endorsed McNerney for his "strong support for veterans, national security/defense, and military personnel issues" as well as because of "comments received from VFW leaders in [California]".

"I am humbled by the endorsement of the VFW Political Action Committee.  I believe that our nation has a commitment to our veterans and military retirees and I will never stop fighting to ensure that we keep that promise. I am proud to have earned the Veterans of Foreign Wars PAC endorsement through my work to ensure our veterans receive the benefits they've earned through their service to our country."

Representing the VFW's 2.2 million members nationwide, VFW-PAC was founded in 1979 to support candidates who fight for our nation's  veterans and support strong national security.

McNerney is backed by several veterans and veteran advocacy organizations, including Dave Norris, California's immediate past VFW State Commander, Veterans' Vision, Veterans & Military Families for Progress, and has been praised for his work by the Veteran Student Alliance at San Joaquin Delta College.

In his first term in Congress, Jerry McNerney has made honoring our troops and veterans a priority by writing legislation to increase combat pay for troops serving in harm's way overseas, working to equip the VA to treat Traumatic Brain Injury - the signature injury of the Iraq War - and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, helping keep military families facing foreclosures in their homes, and fighting to keep the Livermore VA facility open and in veterans' hands.

He also proudly supported efforts to increase VA funding - supporting the largest increase in the agency's 77-year history, create educational opportunities for veterans through his advocacy of the 21st Century GI Bill, and to expand the VA facility in French Camp to serve a burgeoning veteran population.

McNerney's son Michael is an Air Force veteran who joined in response to the 9-11 attacks  and encouraged Jerry to run for Congress.
